DHS Color Guard

What Is Color Guard?

Color Guard is a combination of the use of flags, sabers, mock rifles, and other equipment, as well as dance and other interpretive movements. Color guards can be found in high schools, middle schools, universities, and other independent organizations, some of which are related to drum corps. The De Soto Color Guard performs with the De Soto High School Marching Band at home football games as well as other scheduled competitions and parades.

General Information

The Color Guard season lasts from July to mid-December. The close of the season is determined by how long the football season lasts and whether we decide to compete in Winter Guard competitions. In order to support the marching arts program, we must fundraise and pay dues to pay for the equipment, props, uniforms, drill writers and music that are used as well as competitions that we participate in. The fee for this season will be around $150 to $200 to include all uniform pieces, props, and event registration.
